TDP Takes ‘Special’ Fight to Parliament

While TRS of Telangana is gearing up to demand for the bifurcation of Hyderabad High Court, TDP – The ruling party in Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for the fight for Special Status. TDP MPs have put up notice in Lok Sabha to discuss the issue according to Rule Number 193.

It has to be seen if the Speaker allows this notice and take up the discussion. On the other side, The Private Member Bill put up by KVP Rama Chandra Rao in Rajya Sabha will also come up to voting in this session. It has to be seen if TDP will vote for it, despite being an ally of BJP, ruling party at the center.

The then outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made an announcement in Parliament promising 5 Years of Special Status to Andhra Pradesh. BJP back then demanded for 10 Years and promised to give that once they are in Power. But they have been refusing it citing technical terms and a sentiment is being built up against BJP for going back on the promise.
