Telangana elections are to be held in a couple of weeks. Now, there is a new complication as there is great confusion regarding the names of the candidates in many constituencies across Telangana.
Going into the story, in several constituencies in the state, there are multiple candidates with the same names. This is a tactic used by parties against popular candidates to create confusion amongst voters by fielding random candidates with the same name.
Like for instance, BRS’s Nirmal candidate Allola Indrakaran Reddy faces competition from an irrelevant party – ADR candidate Mantena Indrakiran Reddy. BRS’s Maheshwaram candidate Sabitha Indra Reddy faces competition from independent candidate Muddhi Sabitha.
BRS’s Sanathnagar candidate Srinivas Yadav is coming up against Congress’s Srinivas Reddy and two independents, Srinivasulu and C Srinivas Reddy.
There are several such cases where candidates from BRS, BJP, and Congress are facing competition from independent candidates who are with very identical names. This is a tactic to confuse the voters and divert the votes that would otherwise go to the original candidate.
