Vishakapatnam and Vijayawada are on better side in getting quality power supply than Hyderabad even as both the Telugu states battle power woes. According to the data revealed by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Hyderabad is without power for cumulative 10,286 minutes or a little more than seven days during the year.

While the people in Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam had to live without power for cumulative 6,644 minutes and 8,502 minutes respectively. Both the states say this condition is due to the old infrastructure and outdated substations in place.
Power consumers in Tirupati in AP and Mahbubnagar in Telangana were the worst hit with the highest outage during the year. Tirupati did not have power for 23,651 minutes (16.4 days) and Mahbubnagar for 40,056 minutes (27.8 days).
