BJP-led Central Government has announced a Separate Railway Zone with Vishakapatnam as the headquarter before the 2019 elections. The South Coast Railway announcement has happened around four years ago but the Center seems to have forgotten about it.
The DPR is not yet approved and there are no allocations in the budgets tabled later on.
Now, the 2024 elections are approaching and another drama is going to begin.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Vishakapatnam in November and sources say that he will lay the foundation stone for the zone.
Again this foundation stone ceremony is just before the election and experts say that this is just another namesake and there is no chance of zone coming into existence before the 2024 elections.
The South Coast Railway Zone is the dream of the people of Uttarandhra. The Central Government already tampered with the ambition by not including the important Waltair division which is the key to the Zone’s sustenance. And even that tampered zone is not moving for more than four years.
