Visakhapatnam was thrown into deep shock and grief today after a horrific industrial disaster took place at the Vizag Steel Plant.

The tragic incident happened during a regular shift at the Steel Melting Shop facility. What started as a normal working day quickly turned into a deadly nightmare, leaving at least eight workers dead and several others fighting for their lives with severe burn injuries.

The disaster was triggered when a massive crane was moving a ladle bucket filled with liquid iron. The molten metal, which was heated to an extreme temperature of around 1600°C, suddenly leaked and exploded.

A tidal wave of white-hot liquid steel spilled directly onto the workers on duty below. The extreme heat caused a massive fire, causing total panic as workers ran to save their lives while fire engines rushed to control the flames.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. They immediately directed top district officials to speed up rescue operations and provide the best medical treatment to the injured workers.

Meanwhile, local labor unions are demanding a full investigation into the safety lapses at the plant. Today serves as a painful reminder of the dangerous conditions regular factory workers face every single day.
