Rs 1,00,000 Crore TCS Data Centre in Vizag

TCS announces ₹1 lakh crore Vizag project

Visakhapatnam has attracted another round of massive investments, totalling ₹6 lakh crore in just 15 months. Leading the list is Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which will set up a 1,000 MW data centre worth ₹1,00,000 crore in the city.

TCS plans to invest in phases. The company will also open its development centre in Vizag next month, and the data centre announcement will be made on that occasion. Recently, TCS Chairman N. Chandrasekaran met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to discuss the project.

With this, total investments from global tech giants are set to reach ₹2.6 lakh crore in the next two months. While data centres do not create many direct jobs, they generate nearly ten times more indirect employment through allied sectors.

Experts say Vizag is now on track to become India’s next AI hub. The upcoming data centres are expected to attract AI startups, cloud computing firms, and tech companies in animation, gaming, and VFX. Global players such as Google, Sify, Accenture, Cognizant, and TCS have already committed investments in the city.

The TCS Development Centre itself is being built at a cost of ₹1,400 crore, creating 12,000 jobs. The government has allotted 22 acres of land for the project. Cognizant and Accenture will generate another 25,000 jobs, while Satva and AMNS are expected to provide 15,000 more.
