Where Does Uddanam Issue Stand Now?Janasena President Pawan Kalyan raised the issue of unusually high incidence of kidney ailments in Uddanam village of Srikakulam district and brought it to the notice of Andhra Pradesh government. He even pointed fingers at the government saying that it did very little.

He got a team of health experts and scientists from Harvard University to look into the issue but even they failed to find the exact cause even after a series of tests. This has brought all the research and medical tests conducted in Uddanam back to square one.

Pawan Kalyan also realized this and remained silent on the issue. But due to Pawan Kalyan’s interest on the subject, the state government increased dialysis centers in the area and also announced pension for those affected by Uddanam Nephropathy.

Even though, these measures do not provide a solution to the problems being faced by the people there. It will give them a short-term solace at least. It is estimated that more than 4,500 people died from chronic kidney disease in last 10 years and around 34,000 people have kidney diseases in Uddanam.
