The Hindupur Assembly segment is the stronghold of the Telugu Desam Party. Nandamuri Balakrishna won twice from there and is vying for a hat trick now.
Hindupur Parliament is also a strong segment for the Nandamuri family but then, not as much as the Assembly segment.
Since 1983, TDP won four elections here while losing four times including in 2019.
All eyes are on Chandrababu about the Hindupur Parliament seat this time. Caste calculations are also on. Valmiki and Vaddera communities are the dominant population in Hindupur. Both of them are BC communities.
Valmiki community does not even have its Caste Work (Kula Vrutthi) and has been supporting TDP since its inception. Vaddera community usually does Stone work but it is slowly getting extinct these days. They are also a strong support to TDP.
Kuruva community is also present in prominent numbers in the constituency but they will be accommodated in the Assembly. Either Valmiki or Vaddera communities should also be accommodated in the Assembly so that the other community can get the Parliament ticket.
Nimmala Kishtappa is the TDP candidate for the last three elections (2009, 2014, and 2019). He won twice and lost once in 2019.
