It has been one and a half years since the new government took charge. With no action taken against leaders from the previous regime, many of them appear to be regaining confidence and returning to their old style of politics.
A clear example is former Minister Roja, who has repeatedly targeted Pawan Kalyan with sharp and controversial remarks.
Just fifteen days into the new year, Roja has reportedly targeted Pawan Kalyan at least four times. Her comments have drawn attention for their tone and choice of words.
She recently participated in Sankranthi Sambaralu and made remarks even on the festival day. Her statements questioned Pawan Kalyan’s presence in Hyderabad despite holding the post of Deputy CM.
Roja mocked his recent movements and referred to his comments on Ambati Rambabu during the celebrations. She alleged there was no connection between Pawan Kalyan’s words and actions, continuing her criticism publicly.
Many believe Roja is taking advantage of the government’s leniency. This, according to critics, explains her aggressive political posture in recent weeks.
It is widely felt that Chandrababu Naidu believes female leaders should not be arrested, regardless of political misconduct. This perception is said to have emboldened Roja.
Observers warn that if leaders like Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi also act aggressively under this leniency, it could harm the government.
Despite being decisively rejected by voters, some leaders continue issuing threats. This has led TDP cadre to demand strong action.
Between 2019 and 2024, YSR Congress leaders frequently used harsh language against Pawan Kalyan. Leaders at all levels were involved in these attacks.
After losing the 2024 election, many of them went silent. There was a belief that such behaviour had alienated youth voters and the Kapu community in particular.
Even Jagan Mohan Reddy had stopped using derogatory references. However, in recent press meets, he resumed calling Pawan Kalyan Dattaputrudu.
Following this, Roja appears to be slowly re entering the spotlight to regain favour within the party. Observers believe other YSR Congress leaders may soon follow the same path.
