Union Government is making brisk steps to ensure delimitation of Assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Union Home Minister Rajnadh Singh also confirmed this and the concerned bill may be tabled in Parliament in the next session.

The increase in Assembly seats will benefit the ruling parties in both the states immensely to accommodate the defectors from other parties. Political Experts are expecting that such move will dent YSR Congress severely in AP as more MLAs will move to TDP if they are guaranteed a ticket.
But then YSR Congress is hoping that this move of the center will be stopped somehow since Telangana BJP is not in favour of the Assembly seats increase and they will stop the delimitation somehow. On the other side, AP BJP is in favour of delimitation as that will get more seats from TDP as a part of the alliance.
As of now, under every MP segment, there are seven Assembly segments. They will be increased to nine which will take the MLA seats in AP to 225 (175 now) and in Telangana to 153 (119 now). Congress which has the majority in Rajya Sabha will try its level best to stop that as the bill needs to amend constitution.
