It seems likely that the governing body of Ongole Corporation will be lost by the YSRCP. Many corporators belonging to the dominant party are ready to join the TDP. In this regard, significant developments are expected on Sunday and Monday.
Five corporators from the YSRCP joined the TDP before the general elections. Another corporator joined the TDP on Saturday, bringing the number of alliance members to 13. Recently, it has been reported that more corporators are ready to join the TDP as MLA Damacharla is focusing on the Corporation.
In the corporation elections held during the YSRCP’s rule, party candidates won in 43 out of 50 divisions in Ongole. The TDP won in six divisions and the Jana Sena candidate in one division. The TDP needs 26 members to secure a majority in the corporation. Along with the current 13 members, Ongole MP Magunta, local MLA Damacharla Janardhan, and Santhanoothalapaadu MLA Vijaykumar are ready to take ex-officio membership in the corporation.
It is reported that Janardhan has spoken to Vijaykumar about this. If these three are combined, the TDP’s strength will reach 16 in the Corporation. If 10 more YSRCP corporators join the TDP, there is a possibility that the corporation will come under TDP control.
With the developments on Saturday, it is known that many YSRCP corporators are ready to join the TDP. The number of such corporators ranges from 10 to 15. One or two of them are ready to join the TDP alliance through the Jana Sena.
It is known that MLA Janardhan, who is shrewdly managing politics, had direct discussions with some corporators and through party leaders with others. Although Mayor Gangada Sujatha was also ready to switch parties, the TDP leaders started direct discussions with the corporators, keeping her aside.
It is reported that former MLA Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, who noticed the situation, started discussions with the corporators focusing on the Corporation. After his election defeat, he was confined to Hyderabad. He told some YSRCP corporators that he would come to Ongole on Monday and advised them not to make any hasty decisions.
According to the information received, Balineni, who is deeply offended by the decisions taken by YSRCP chief Jagan, is considering how to move forward. Some of the corporators who want to join the TDP are considering respecting Balineni’s word and making a decision after Monday.
