Dating Apps Become Crime Tools in Bengaluru

Bengaluru dating app scam awareness

A well planned scam is being reported in Bengaluru, mainly targeting young women who come to the city in search of jobs. Most victims are new to the city, under financial pressure, and unfamiliar with local risks. Scam groups exploit this vulnerability carefully.

The racket usually contacts women through fake job offers, social media messages, or indirect references. Later, they are pressured into creating profiles on dating apps. These profiles are used to emotionally trap unsuspecting men.

Meetings are arranged at specific cafés or bars that are linked to the gang. Once the meeting begins, men are forced to pay inflated bills or threatened with consequences. The collected money is then shared among the group members.

In several cases, the women involved are also victims. They are controlled, cheated, and often frightened into silence. Many remain trapped due to fear, financial dependence, or lack of support in the city.

This situation raises a serious question. Despite education, internet access, Google, and even AI tools, people continue to fall into such traps. Reports of online scams and app based frauds are widely available today.

The world has advanced enough to identify fake offers and criminal patterns early. Yet awareness remains low at the ground level. People still ignore warning signs until it is too late.

Awareness is the first line of defence. If something feels suspicious, immediate action is essential. Legal help, helplines, and police complaints can prevent long term damage. Staying alert can protect lives and futures.
