Hebbagodi police arrest rooftop stalker

Imagine drying clothes at home and discovering someone has stolen intimate garments from the terrace. That fear has gripped Bengaluru after a disturbing incident in the Hebbagodi area. Residents say the repeated thefts created panic and deep discomfort among women.

Hebbagodi Police arrested 23 year old Amal N. Ajikukumar, an unemployed man from Vidyanagar in Electronic City. The arrest followed multiple complaints from residents on January 19. Locals reported spotting a man moving across rooftops late at night.

According to police, the accused targeted women’s bras and panties left out to dry. Several homes reported missing garments over consecutive nights. The incidents left families alarmed and women feeling unsafe inside their own homes.

Police acted on a Hoysala patrol tip off and caught the accused while he was allegedly attempting another theft. A search of his residence in Somraj Building led to the recovery of a large number of stolen undergarments. Officers also found photos of the accused posing in them.

The police described the acts as a serious violation of women’s modesty that caused mental trauma. A suo moto case was registered under BNS Sections 303(2), 329(4), and 79. Investigators believe the accused had been involved in similar acts for several months.

The incident has triggered public outrage in Bengaluru. Residents are demanding stricter surveillance, CCTV installation, and better security in residential areas. The case has once again raised concerns about safety in fast growing urban neighbourhoods.
