Telegram India Ban Stays: Delhi High Court Dismisses Plea

Delhi High Court on Telegram ban case

The Delhi High Court has officially dismissed Telegram’s plea challenging the Central Government’s temporary ban, refusing to grant any interim relief to the instant messaging platform.

Justice Tejas Karia upheld the government’s decision to block the platform across India until June 22. The court rejected Telegram’s legal challenge against the emergency order, which was issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under Section 69A of the IT Act.

The emergency blockade was put in place to maintain public order and ensure the absolute integrity of the high-stakes NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, following intense concerns over organized paper leaks and cheating networks operating through underground channels. By dismissing the plea, the court has prioritized the security of national examinations over the service access of the platform’s user base.
