In a rather unusual case from Surat, Gujarat, a man tipped off the police about his daughter-in-law allegedly hosting a liquor party, leading to the arrest of six people. The incident took place on August 3 at the Weekend Address Hotel, located in the Dumas area near the Arabian Sea.
The man, who is the father-in-law of one of the arrested women, informed authorities that alcohol was being served at the party. Gujarat has strict prohibition laws, making the possession and consumption of liquor illegal in most circumstances. Acting swiftly, police raided the hotel room and seized multiple liquor bottles.
Among those arrested were two women, including the informant’s daughter-in-law. Later, the man told officials he took this action to “teach her a lesson,” which has sparked a wave of reactions on social media. While some netizens supported the man for upholding the law, others questioned the personal motives behind the move.
All six individuals were booked under the Gujarat Prohibition Act and were released on bail after completing legal formalities at the police station. Authorities also mentioned that the hotel management is being interrogated for permitting alcohol on the premises, which could invite further penalties.
