A man had a terrifying experience at the gym when he got stuck under a heavy barbell while doing a bench press. The video shared online shows him struggling with the weight as a woman tries to help. But she isn’t strong enough to lift the barbell off him. Things get worse when the bar slips from his chest and gets stuck at his neck.
People online were shocked. One person wrote, “He was lucky to survive. A strong trainer is a must, not a choice.” Others said the woman should have removed the weight plates instead of trying to lift the bar.
This accident shows why lifting heavy weights without supervision is risky. A trainer or spotter is important to prevent serious injuries like muscle tears or joint dislocations.
Having someone to help also makes workouts safer and more effective. Trainers make sure people use the right technique and increase weights safely. Exercises like the bench press, squat, and deadlift can be dangerous if done wrong.
For anyone lifting heavy weights, having a spotter isn’t just useful. Arguably it can save lives. However, it should be noted that the one who spots you is at least capable.
