A shocking series of deaths has left Koheda in Abdullahpurmet, Rangareddy district, in deep sorrow. Three friends from the same village, who studied together from Class 6 to Class 10, died by suicide within just three days.
The first incident involved Gyara Vaishnavi, 19, who complained of stomach pain on Tuesday. Her parents planned to take her to the hospital later that evening. However, when Vaishnavi went into her bedroom and didn’t return for a long time, they broke open the door and found her hanging from the fan.
The following day, her classmate Satali Rakesh, 21, took a bedsheet and went to sleep in the shutter room. When his mother went to clean in the morning, she discovered him hanging from the ceiling.
On Thursday, Srija, 18, who was also from the same village, was found dead at home. Her father left for work early in the morning, leaving the children asleep. Around 11.45 am, Srija’s physically challenged sister tried to alert the family. When they checked, Srija was found hanging.
Locals believe the three friends could not cope with each other’s deaths and may have taken the extreme step in emotional distress. The police have launched an investigation to determine the exact reasons behind the tragic sequence of events.
