Residents of Bengaluru were left in awe after posters offering the renting of a boyfriend popped up across multiple places in the city.
The posters were offering Boyfriend services for a day for a meagre sum of Rs.389 per day.
Another group of posters featuring QR codes were also seen. These posters read, “This Valentine’s Day, Rent A Boyfriend, Scan Me.”
These posters were visible in many areas like Jayanagar, Banashankari, and BDA complexes.
While many view this trend as a step towards modernity, with such practices already being common in countries like Japan and Thailand, others view it as a ruination of the established system of traditions of the country.
Social media has been buzzing ever since this incident surfaced, with users making jokes of their own on the matter.
One user said, “Finally, a boyfriend who comes with a return policy!”
Another commented, “Can I rent one to attend family weddings and deflect the ‘When are you getting married?’ questions?”
With the conflict between progress and traditions as hot as ever, it will be interesting to see which side has its way going forward into the future.
