After Infosys founder opened the pandora’s box with his 70-hour work week comments, the L&T chairman SN Subrahmanyan has now suggested there was nothing wrong with a 90-hour work week.

Subramanyan has said that he would look forward to get his employees work for 90 hours. He told his employees that they should let go of Sundays too and work at office.

Not stopping there, the L&T head said “how long do you want to look at your wife”. Instead, he suggested his employees to tell their wives that they would go work at the office.

Goes without saying, his comments have gone viral and have kick-started a debate all over again. Even as work timings are shrinking globally, Subramanyan’s comments come as a huge jolt to workforce.

Many have taken offense for his “wife” comments and called them unwarranted. His statement has made headlines in media and looks like this was exactly what Subramanyan was looking for.

His remarks have created a flutter and it is being felt that Subramanyan’s statements were more attention-grabbing than practical. Subramanyan revealed that he works on Sundays and he would like his employees to work on Sundays too.

On the other hand, it has to be remembered that there was a section who supported Narayana Murthy who said 70-hour work week would make India make a place among developed countries.
