A disturbing incident was reported at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla on Sunday. A patient from the Kupvi sub division visited the hospital after suffering from severe breathing problems. He arrived seeking urgent medical care.
According to the patient, the doctor on duty spoke to him in a rude and insulting manner. He alleged that the remarks made during the interaction deeply hurt his dignity. The patient stated that he politely requested the doctor to speak respectfully and consider his condition.
The situation reportedly escalated after this request. The patient alleged that the doctor lost his temper and physically assaulted him inside the ward. This caused panic and tension within the hospital premises for some time.
Other hospital staff intervened soon after the incident. They managed to calm the situation and restore order. The incident was captured on video, which later went viral on social media.
Following the incident, the patient approached the authorities and filed a formal complaint. Hospital officials acknowledged the issue and ordered an internal inquiry. Statements from both the patient and the doctor are currently being recorded.
The incident has raised serious concerns about behaviour inside hospitals. Patients approach medical institutions during vulnerable moments. Doctors and staff are expected to act with patience, respect, and humanity to maintain trust in healthcare settings.
This thug Dr Raghav Narula, caught thrashing a patient at IGMC Shimla, has merely been suspended. Deserves to lose his license & serve some jail time. No matter what, how can you assault a patient? Most sensible docs have condemned, but several shameless ‘docs’ defending. pic.twitter.com/pYkLFOpM4P
