WhatsApp introduces Channels to simplify information sharing. In a blog post, the business revealed that Channels will be available through a different tab called Updates, alongside Status and the user’s current conversations with family, friends, and communities. Only the admin may post content to channels.
WhatsApp will offer a searchable index of hobbies and sports to help users locate appropriate channels. Invite buttons allow channel membership. WhatsApp promises to keep phone numbers and profile photographs private from admins and other channel participants.
Channel updates are saved for 30 days, unlike chat history. WhatsApp will investigate speedier update removal alternatives. Admins may ban screenshots and forwards, regulate who follows their channels, and make their channels discoverable in the directory.
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, uses non-encrypted Channels to help admins contact more people. The new function debuted in Colombia and Singapore, with intentions to expand globally. WhatsApp thinks Channels will boost company growth by using the platform’s payment facilities and promoting directory channels.
WhatsApp is tackling data privacy and security issues. The messaging service will deregister overseas mobile numbers that commit fraud. The firm also blacklisted 2.6 million phone numbers, 1.8 million in response to user complaints, and 872,000 for breaking community norms, indicating their dedication to safety.
