The sudden retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from test cricket has sparked several conspiracy theories among fans and cricket enthusiasts.
While fans are definitely upset at the duo’s decision to step down from the format, others have credited coach Gautam Gambhir for this ‘incredible’ move.
According to sources, it was Gambhir who communicated to both Rohit and Virat that their places in the playing 11 were not confirmed for each game.
This led to a battle of egos, ultimately culminating in the retirement of both the players to avoid the kind of humiliation Ravichandran Ashwin received in the BGT.
While none of this is confirmed, one thing that is 100% guaranteed is that Virat and Rohit’s days in the one day team are now numbered as well.
