KL Rahul has proven time and again that his talent for India can be used at any required position within the team.
However, the last few matches, both in Australia and in England, have shown KL’s brilliance when he comes to open the innings.
With such strong performances to show for himself, one begs to ask the question — Why wasn’t he given opening chances before?
Well, that’s because of the ex-skipper Rohit Sharma. Rohit had been opening for India in red-ball cricket for a long time now.
Although there is no doubt about his brilliance, recent years had exposed Rohit’s declining performance in whites, ultimately leading to his retirement.
Rohit’s potential stubbornness to open the innings even while he was not performing led to great talents like KL Rahul being disrespected and floated around for granted in the team.
With Rohit now gone, KL will get much more chances to shine, and we can only hope that he makes the most out of them.
