Nani’s most anticipated film The Paradise directed by Srikanth Odela, is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release tomorrow. With only a few hours left until the release, the pre-bookings of the film are now happening at a fast pace.
Since the announcement, this film has carried huge expectations among audiences and many believe that The Paradise will take Nani’s market to the next level and help elevate him as a Pan-Indian actor.
According to pre-release booking reports, even though The Paradise is doing solid advance sales in the Telugu states and overseas and is all set to open as the career-highest grossing film for Nani, its advance sales for the Tamil version in Tamil Nadu are very average.
Because Nani has a good fan base in Tamil Nadu, many expected that The Paradise would enjoy record-breaking Day-1 numbers in the state. Surprisingly, other than the premiere shows, most of the shows for Day 1 have not filled up in many centres across Tamil Nadu, especially for the Tamil version.
In response to the average bookings for Paradise in Tamil Nadu, many trade experts are suggesting that these underwhelming pre-release bookings are due to poor promotions by the makers in Tamil Nadu and they feel that the makers have wasted a potential market without proper promotions. Therefore, they claim the success of Paradise now solely relies on its word of mouth in Tamil Nadu.
However, as of now, Nani‘s highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu is Naan Ee, which collected more than 23 crores at the time. After Naan Ee, no film of Nani’s has performed well in the state and his last release, HIT 3 collected only around 3 crores in Tamil Nadu.
Hence, it is evident that his films are underperforming in Tamil Nadu despite his popularity. Consequently, all eyes are now on the Paradise. It remains to be seen whether it will help him break this jinx in Tamil Nadu and emerge as Nani’s highest-grossing film in the state, surpassing Naan Ee upon its release tomorrow.
