AR Murugadoss recently shared his views in an interview about filmmakers who create 1,000-crore blockbusters, and his remarks have sparked a heated debate on social media. His comments have gone viral, with people divided over whether his opinion was fair or a sign of frustration.
He explained that directors who make 1,000-crore films only focus on entertaining audiences, while Tamil directors take a different approach by trying to educate people through their movies. According to him, this is the key difference that sets Tamil cinema apart.
Soon after, some social media users criticised Murugadoss for his comments, suggesting that his words may reflect frustration over the failure of his last few high-budget films. They believe this could be the reason he chose to make strong remarks against directors who are currently successful.
Others questioned the relevance of his point by bringing up his own hit film Ghajini. They argued that Ghajini was largely a commercial entertainer and asked what lesson it really offered, claiming that he should not criticise others when his own work had the same appeal.
Several people also added that a theatre is not meant to be a classroom and suggested that Murugadoss should focus on what audiences expect today. They said he should concentrate on making a comeback with a successful film instead of speaking negatively about the work of other filmmakers.
Despite the criticism, Murugadoss’s remarks continue to spread widely online. Many netizens are still debating his statement, with opinions sharply divided on whether he was speaking the truth or simply expressing frustration.
