Suriya is currently awaiting the release of his next film Vishwanath & Sons directed by Venky Atluri, which is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14th. Simultaneously, the actor has almost completed the shooting for his 47th film directed by Jithu Madhavan.
Initially, sources suggested that the makers of Suriya 47 were trying to complete the film before the end of this year and were planning to release it at the beginning of 2027.
However, fresh reports claim that because Simbu’s Arasan and Karthi’s Marshal, which were aimed for this year’s Diwali release, are on the verge of getting postponed, the makers of Suriya 47 are trying to cash in on the Diwali release slot and work is now happening at a brisk pace.
If this speculation proves true and Suriya 47 releases on Diwali, it would be Suriya’s third release this year, following Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons.
In response to this speculation, many people on social media are now suggesting that releasing Suriya 47 on Diwali would be a huge blunder. They suggest that although the Diwali slot will give Suriya 47 a massive opening, a big actor like Suriya having three releases in the same year and that too within a six-month gap will dilute the hype and potential of the film.
They feel that Suriya’s fans are still not over the hangover of Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons is already releasing in just 15 days. In this scenario, by the time fans move on from Vishwanath & Sons, Suriya 47 will be released. Therefore, they feel that despite the Diwali slot being a solid opportunity for a massive opening, the Suriya 47 team should release the film only next year.
Meanwhile, some Suriya fans have contrasting opinions on this. They note that only because of the delay in the release of Karuppu, Vishwanath & Sons got delayed and due to that delay, the release of Suriya 47 now feels too early. So, they claim that if Suriya 47 doesn’t release this year, it will affect the release of Suriya 48 and sometimes these sorts of multiple releases cannot be avoided to reset the time gap between film releases.
Ultimately, all these are just social media discussions and there is still no official update on Suriya 47’s release date. It remains to be seen whether Suriya 47 releases on Diwali and if Suriya will have three releases this year.
