Suriya’s 47th film, directed by Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, officially began yesterday with a Pooja ceremony. Photos of the actor from the event quickly went viral across social media.
Suriya has nearly completed shooting for his upcoming films Karuppu directed by RJ Balaji and the tentatively titled Suriya 46 directed by Venky Atluri. However, the makers have yet to announce release dates for either project.
For months, strong rumours suggested that Jithu Madhavan would collaborate with Suriya for a cop drama. With the Pooja ceremony now complete, the project has formally begun. Malayalam actor Naslen K Gafoor and actress Nazriya Nazim were also present, indicating their key roles in the film. The music will be composed by Sushin Shyam.
After consecutive failures like Kanguva and Retro, Suriya is in need of a solid comeback. His market has dipped over the past few years, and fans are hoping his new lineup will revive his career.
With Karuppu, Suriya 46 and this new project underway, fans on social media are pleased with the variety and promise these films hold. However, some people are questioning whether Suriya has lost faith in Tamil directors, as his recent collaborations have mostly been with filmmakers from other industries.
