After the failures of Kanguva and Retro, Suriya has been shooting Karuppu directed by RJ Balaji, while also working on Venky Atluri’s untitled film. Earlier reports stated that Karuppu had completed filming and moved to post production.
However, new rumours suggest that the success of Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara has pushed the Karuppu team to rethink parts of their film. The makers are said to be adding flashback sequences and a fight scene to create a historic and modern two timeline structure.
There are also reports that the flashback portions will be extended and the modern day sections trimmed. To finish these additions, Suriya has reportedly given a ten day call sheet.
This speculation has triggered reactions from fans on social media. Many expected a Diwali release and are questioning the sudden changes. They are unhappy that the team did not plan these additions earlier.
Some users have also begun trolling the film, saying Karuppu might become another Kanguva because of the two timeline format. These comments have sparked further debate online.
If the rumours are true, Karuppu is unlikely to release soon. The team still needs to complete the new shoot and finalise post production. Fans now wait for an official update on the film’s release timeline.
