Google has introduced a new feature called Find Hub to help travellers recover lost luggage faster. The tool allows passengers to share the real time location of their bags directly with airlines.
Lost baggage is a common problem during air travel. The new Find Hub feature aims to simplify the recovery process by using location sharing technology.
With this feature, travellers can generate a secure link that shows the live location of their luggage. This works when the bag has a compatible tracking device attached.
Passengers can open Find Hub on their Android device and select the missing item. They can then choose the “Share Item Location” option to create a unique tracking link.
The link can be shared with airline representatives through the airline’s website or mobile app. This allows airline staff to track the bag and help speed up the recovery process.
Several airlines have already started supporting the feature. These include Turkish Airlines, Air India, China Airlines, Saudia, and Scandinavian Airlines.
Airlines that are part of the Lufthansa Group have also joined the initiative. The collaboration aims to make baggage tracking easier for travellers worldwide.
Google says the system has been designed with strong privacy protections. Location sharing links automatically expire after seven days.
Travellers also have full control over the feature. They can stop sharing their bag’s location at any time if they choose.
Overall, Find Hub could become a useful tool for frequent flyers. The feature may help reduce stress and confusion when luggage goes missing during travel.
