Passengers on a delayed Lufthansa flight were left stranded overnight on an aircraft after a series of events at Munich Airport. The incident reportedly took place on February 19, 2026. Flight LH2446 was first delayed and later cancelled shortly before midnight.
The flight was scheduled to depart from Munich to Copenhagen Airport. It was ultimately cancelled due to the airport’s strict night curfew rules. By the time the announcement was made, passengers had already boarded and were waiting inside the aircraft.
An Airbus A320neo was parked at a remote stand during the delay. After the cancellation, the airline reportedly tried to arrange buses to take passengers back to the terminal. However, transport services were unavailable after the airport closed for the night.
Crew members informed travellers that no bus drivers were available. They were also told that they were not permitted to disembark on foot. As a result, 123 passengers remained inside the aircraft for several hours.
With limited food, no blankets and standard short haul seating, the situation became uncomfortable. Many described the experience as exhausting. Passengers were finally taken back to the terminal early the next morning.
They were later rebooked on alternative flights. While operational constraints may have contributed to the disruption, the incident has raised concerns about passenger care and contingency planning. Questions are now being asked about handling such situations more effectively.
