There was a time when the people of Andhra were deeply hurt by the state bifurcation and the divisive political rhetoric used by a few politicians for their own gain.
Now, people have moved on, and during the Bathukamma celebrations, Andhra women are seen wholeheartedly participating alongside their Telangana friends.
Bathukamma is celebrated in several states in the U.S., such as New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Georgia, and Houston, organized by various organizations like Global Telangana Association Detroit (GTA), TAGH – Telangana Association of Greater Houston etc.
One thing is certain: apart from a few hardcore social media activists who continue to be upset about state’s division, most people have moved on.
Additionally, this time there is less blame directed towards Andhra, and attempts to exploit sentiments for votes in Telangana elections have decreased as well.
