Nikki Haley is falling far and far behind Donald Trump in the race for the Republican candidate but she is not giving up. Just before the South Carolina vote, she addressed her rally by saying that she is not dropping out of the race. Nikki’s confidence soon turned into disappointment after Donald Trump defeated her.
South Carolina was Nikki Haley’s home state and some of her voters were hopeful that she would manage to hold the fort there. However, Trump secured 59 percent votes and spoiled Nikki’s plan. After losing her home state, she made a reference to her homeland India.
It is not the first time that Nikki has mentioned India during her campaign. She has used her Indian lineage according to her convenience so far. After losing South Carolina, she said that “My mother was a lawyer in India..”. She also invoked the immigrant roots of her parents.
Nikki has been criticized before for using her race and community to gain sympathy and then denying that racism ever existed in the USA. Her approach towards the Indian Americans has not lured the community to come in support of her.
