The West has always been a desired place by Indian students to pursue higher studies. Indians are among one of the highest number of foreign nationals studying in countries like the USA, Canada, UK and Germany. However, getting a higher education degree from France hasn’t been as easy as with some of these other countries. All this is going to change as France is planning to welcome as many as 30,000 students by 2030.
The French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, informed about the latest decisions regarding Schengen visa for Indians. According to it, any Indian student holding a master’s degree or above and has spent at least one semester studying in France are eligible for a 5 year short-stay Schengen visa.
France believes that anyone who has even spent a semester in France, forms a special connection with the place which needs to be “fostered and cherished”. The program is going to give higher priority to students in management and engineering fields.
France wants to invite as many Indian students as possible and aim to have the numbers as high as 30,000 till 2030. More than 600 partnerships have been established between Indian and French institutions.
