The United States is expecting restrictions on H-1B visas in the coming years with the Republican government back at the helm. However, in a unique twist, Trump’s elected advisors are defending the work visas against other senators, but what are their real intentions?
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, appointed by Trump to monitor the immigration issue in the US, came out to defend H-1B visas, claiming that America lacks skilled workers. This means they have to rely on immigrants from other nations, with Indian techies being a major part of this community.

On the other hand, Senator Bernie Sanders doesn’t seem to agree and emphasized that the H-1B program is not about finding the best talent from across the world. Instead, he believes, it’s about replacing local jobs with cheaper, often mistreated, foreign workers.
According to an appalling statistic, between 2019-20 85% of H-1B employees went under-paid. Most of the junior workers earned 20-40% less than their American counterparts.

These numbers add significant weight to Sanders’ argument and expose the system that is built to exploit foreign professionals. Indians are already victims of hate crime and racism in the country and deserve equal opportunity in workspaces.
Meanwhile, Indians should also be wary before migrating to the US. They need to see the dark side of the “American dream” everyone is chasing after.
