Fake Marriage Scam: NRI Assaults Indian Woman

NRI Assaults Indian Woman

An NRI from the US has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman multiple times, pretending he would marry her. His 2-year-long scam came to an end as he was caught by Delhi police last week.

The accused had already been married twice, once in Punjab and once in the US since 2017. But in 2022, he convinced another Indian woman through a matrimonial site that he was serious about marriage.

After entering into a relationship, it was last November that the two met at the IGI airport in Delhi. The US-returned took the woman to a hotel in Mahipalpur where he engaged with her sexually for the first time.

The accused then tricked her into joining him on a trip to Dubai under the pretense of marriage, ensuring her their families would talk to each other once they returned. However, he allegedly sexually assaulted her again with the same fake promise.

It was only last month that the woman found out that the man was already married. The victim’s family wasted no time in filing a complaint against the NRI, beginning a search for him.

His lies finally caught up to him and the accused was finally arrested on February 5 from a hotel in Mahipalpur. Maybe more skeletons in his closet from those two marriages might come out as well.
