The race for the US Presidential election is on and among the contenders making a case for them is Vivek Ramaswamy. However, Vivek has often been questioned around his religion and ethnicity. His opponents have attacked him for it claiming it will not allow him to safeguard the Christian faith and values which the Republican Party supports.
Speaking at a public event in Iowa, Vivek got an opportunity to address all such concerns and not only that, he also affirmed his own religious beliefs publicly. Answering a question from a voter at the event, he confirmed his Hindu faith.
More importantly, Vivek said that he is not going to sacrifice his religion for the post of President. He said that he is not going to ‘fake convert’, in order to amass support from the Christian community. He further said that he is not the best person to promote Christianity in the US.
It is noteworthy how he puts Hinduism over his personal aspirations. At a time when politicians usually tend to hide their religious beliefs, Vivek’s approach is brave and his message is clear. For him, his Hindu belief is even above the president chair.
It won’t be a surprise that if Vivek gets an opportunity, he would more openly carry his religious identity. This could possibly change how Hinduism is perceived in the US.
A voter tonight in Iowa asked about my Hindu faith. I answered honestly. pic.twitter.com/hkUrZkbhUx
