An Indian-origin nurse is left fighting for her life after a horrifying attack from her patient in the UK.

Achamma Cherian, 57 years old, was stabbed with scissors during her shift at Royal Oldham Hospital in Manchester. The brutal attack happened during a busy late-night shift, leaving the mother of two almost dead at her workplace.

The attacker is the 37-year-old Roman Haque, who was arrested by the police at the crime scene. The authorities have not disclosed any motive behind this incident as the investigation is ongoing but did describe the severity of those injuries as “life-changing” for the Indian woman.

However, in a kind gesture, the officials and the Hospital staff have extended their support to Cheriam’s family, showing how loved she was. Violence against essential workers is unacceptable and threatens the safety of everyone in the society.

Hospitals should increase the safety of their employees as such incidents are increasing every day. Haque is now facing charges of attempted murder and carrying a weapon and will appear in court on February 18.
