In a tragic incident, a 31-year-old Hyderabad man working as a delivery agent in the USA drowned after accidentally falling into a swimming pool while delivering a package.
The victim, Mohammed Mustafa Shareef, was employed as a food delivery agent in Atlanta. He had been in the USA for nine months on a dependent visa and left behind his wife Tahera Banu and two children, Shezad (2 years old) and Hamza (5 months old).
Shareef’s elder brother, Md. Nawaz Shareef, explained that the mishap occurred while Mustafa was trying to fulfill company protocols by photographing the delivery location. Due to poor lighting, he slipped into a 10 to 12-foot-deep swimming pool and tragically drowned. After an hour, the homeowner discovered him, prompting a call to the police.
Shareef’s family in India has sought assistance from External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar to engage the Indian Embassy in the US and the Consulate General of India (CGI) Atlanta. They are urgently requesting emergency visas for Shareef’s parents and in-laws to attend his last rites.
Currently, the family is unsure about the future of Shareef’s wife and children in the US. They are also seeking assistance from local politicians and NRI associations in the US.
