India is already facing allegations of killing or attempting to kill foreign nationals associated with terrorism on foreign soil like Canada and the United States. Amidst this, a UK based newspaper has claimed that India is behind the killing of wanted terrorists in Pakistan. The Guardian has reported these killings as India’s strategy to eliminate terrorists on foreign soil.
The report quotes some intelligence operatives from India and Pakistan. It claims that India’s foreign intelligence agency carried out these operations to eliminate the terrorists living on foreign soil.
All these killings are believed to be carried out as a part of the ’emboldened approach to national security’ after 2019. The intelligence agency operates very secretly and no link has been traced between them and the killings.
It is the first time that intelligence officials from India have talked about the alleged involvement in such killings. The report claims that local operatives in Pakistan were paid to carry out the operations. These are mere claims and not verified by any authority hence we must treat them likewise.
