The Indian Navy reached two major milestones this week. DRDO’s’made-in-India heavyweight torpedo destroyed an undersea target on Tuesday. This achievement is a major milestone for the Indian Navy and DRDO in underwater ordnance delivery. The Navy tweeted an eight-second video of a lengthy, multi-colored object drifting on the water that burst upon torpedo hit. The Navy celebrated with the hashtag “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat,” underscoring India’s military technological self-reliance.
Recent tests preceded this success. The US Navy’s MH-60 ‘Romeo’ multi-mission helicopter landed on the deck of INS Vikrant, an indigenously constructed aircraft carrier. The all-weather MH-60 ‘Romeo’ has cutting-edge avionics and sensors. This sophisticated helicopter on Indian warships improves the Navy’s underwater danger response.
These achievements demonstrate the Indian Navy’s dedication to improving its naval capabilities and armament. The Navy’s military technology self-sufficiency has increased with the successful test of the indigenous heavyweight torpedo and the integration of the MH-60 ‘Romeo’ helicopter. These improvements would strengthen India’s navy and help preserve regional security.
Successful engagement of an Underwater Target by an indigenously developed Heavy Weight Torpedo is a significant milestone in #IndianNavy's & @DRDO_India's quest for accurate delivery of ordnance on target in the underwater domain. #AatmaNirbharBharat@DefenceMinIndia pic.twitter.com/ZMSvtFSobE
