In today’s day and age Indians are one of the most sought after workforce across the globe and so is evident by them acquiring leading positions from all over the world. It has come to such an extent, that Indian origin people are now leading European countries like England and others. However, in a recent turn of events, an Indian origin Prime Minister, and mark it, not Sunak, has stepped down from the prestigious position.
In his emotional address, Ireland’s India-origin prime minister Leo Varadkar confessed that he will be stepping down as the leader of the governing Fine Gael party. In this out of nowhere announcement, Leo further added that he will also be stepping down from his post of Prime Minister as soon as a successor is chosen in his stead.
Earlier in 2017 Varadkar had made history in becoming the first gay prime minister the country had ever witnessed. What made this feat even bigger was that Ireland has a history of being a staunchly Catholic country along with the fact that he had become the youngest person ever to hold the office of taoiseach(Prime Minister).
The 45 year old leader ended his statement by saying that this was the right time for him to step aside along with the fact that his reasons for stepping down were both personal and political, with the chunk of them being the former.
