Carrying guns and having them lying around in households might be a joke to Americans but the consequences of it are no joke for anyone. The gun capital of the world has once again brought shame on itself as a 14 year old boy shot down a 12 year old girl in what appears to be a child’s game.
The incident took place in a town near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where the young boy lived. The police responded to the report of the girl being shot and took her to the hospital where she was declared dead.
It is utterly shocking to see how young kids in America are having access to extremely dangerous weapons like handguns. The USA treasures its right to carry firearms but falls behind when it comes to taking accountability and responsibility for the same.
According to the police report, the boy was showing off his dad’s handgun to the girl and asked her if it was loaded or unloaded. He then pointed it at her and pulled the trigger. The police have charged the young boy with murder as an adult.
The young boy’s father claimed that he didn’t know his son knew where the gun was. He also said that he never loads a bullet in the chamber. It is important to question the role of such careless parents in cases like these. So far no charges have been pressed against the father which only shows how far the US will go to protect their gun rights.
