The conflict between India and Maldives is far from over. Although there might not be direct attacks from the governments of each country, apparently some vigilante groups are making sure that Maldives keep receiving these blows. It was reported that the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology of Maldives was hacked and a warning message was displayed.
The responsibility of this cyber attack has been taken by a group called ‘Indian Cyber Force’. The group claimed that the attack was done in response to the ‘anti-India actions’ of Maldives. The home ministry of Maldives has said the website is down because of a technical problem.
The website of the ministry displayed the message, “This is just the beginning of the destruction, we will bring more to you”. So far there is no confirmation from the authorities about the actual source of the attack.
The conflict started when a few ministers from Maldives made derogatory remarks against the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This latest cyber attack on Maldives is going to create further problems for the Maldives’ government which is already facing a backlash from the opposition.
