Crime rates in the UK have been on the rise, and this time, it involves three men of Indian origin. According to a report, in Leicester city last year, three men of Indian descent persuaded a woman to enter their car.
Recently, the police announced that each of them has been sentenced to 10 years in jail. On October 6th, at the Leicester Crown Court, Ajay Doppalapudi (27), Vahar Manchala (24), and Rana Yellambai (30) received their sentences after being convicted of abducting a woman during a trial that took place in September.
The lady got into the car, believing it to be a taxi. However, as the car drove further away from her house, she realized that something wasn’t right. They drove her for a distance of 15 miles until they reached a secluded area near Misterton, just off the M1 and close to Lutterworth. It was there that they stopped the car and removed the victim.
Reports indicate that she was drunk and vulnerable, growing increasingly concerned about the situation. After some moments, she managed to escape and reach a motorway, where she soon attracted attention.
Following this, CCTV footage was reviewed, leading to a breakthrough regarding the license. All three men involved in the incident were arrested shortly after the investigation.
Doppalapudi, Yellambai, and Manchala faced a legal case involving several sexual assault charges. They were found not guilty of some charges, while the jury couldn’t agree on others. This highlights the complexities of legal proceedings and underscores the importance of a fair judicial process in cases as intricate as these.
