Proud Moment: 9 Year Old NRI Girl World’s Brightest

The Indian-American community in the United States has an old reputation of excelling in the field of academics from the very beginning. The practice is so common that it has become a part of stereotypes in pop culture. It has been only possible because of the consistent performance of the young Indian Americans in various competitions.

A 9 year old Indian American, Preesha Chakraborty has made it to the prestigious ‘World’s Brightest Students’ list published by John Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth. The list comprises the best talent across the world in the. She made it to the list after analysis of results of over 16,000 students in above grade level tests.

Preesha is a grade 3 student from Fremont, California. She took the John Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth test in summer 2023. She is not the first Indian American to make it to the list. Earlier, another Natasha Perianayagam featured in the list and has managed to be named for the second consecutive year.

The Indian community has always set new benchmarks for academic excellence. The National Spelling Bee competition is a perfect example which highlights this success.
