Crime against Indians in the USA has been increasing day by day. Indians who go to America for the betterment of their lives, sometimes for better education, often face ill treatment. Certain news reports indicate an increase in the killing of Indian students in recent times.
A similar incident occurred when an Indian dancer was shot dead. Renowned Indian actress and wife of Gurmeet Chaudhry, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, revealed the shocking news on her Twitter handle. She stated that Amarnath Ghosh, who was pursuing his PhD, was shot by a stranger while doing his evening walk. Amarnath had no parents as they left him quite early; hence, his close associates and friends are trying hard to retrieve the body from the police. However, this would only be possible if officials from the Indian External Affairs request it.
Devoleena tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, S. Jaishankar, and the Indian Embassy in her tweet, urging them to look into the matter. Apart from being a PhD student, Amarnath was also a skilled Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer, hailing from Kolkata.
Such incidents come as a shock, especially to Indians settled in foreign countries, as they become easy targets for criminals.
