Days have passed since a Hindu temple in California was vandalized by anti-India and anti-Hindu forces but the community is still waiting for any concrete action by the law enforcement agencies. The attack has been condemned by lawmakers from both the parties but a mere condemnation is not enough to ensure safety of the Hindu community in the United States.
There is a complete outrage among the Hindus living in the USA after the attack. The incident not only hurt the religious sentiments of many people but also raised questions about their safety. However, this outrage is nowhere to be seen in the American mainstream and that is the reason why no action has been taken in the matter so far.
Many Indian origin lawmakers like Congressman RO Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Shri Thanedar have condemned the act and called it disgraceful. There is a visible bigotry in the system that holds it back from any action that can upset another community.
The attack on the temple in Newark, California was the job of Pro-Khalistanis as the temple walls were spray painted ‘Khalistan’. However, the US government has had a soft approach towards the extremist group.
