In an appalling incident, an Indian American pleaded guilty to his disgraceful and Lewd acts on a US-bound flight.
Krishna Kunapuli, 39, was arrested last week for masturbating and flashing on a flight from Abu Dhabi to Boston. He began his misconduct by invading a female passenger’s space, touching her hair, and taking her photos without permission.
Later, two male passengers nearby witnessed him masturbating under a blanket, exposing himself fully. A passenger reported his revolting behavior to flight attendants, who contacted law enforcement on landing.
It was a shameful incident from the 39-year-old man, demeaning the name of the community abroad. Despite his own admission of such a brazen invasion of privacy, the judgment feels lenient, to say the least.
In their press release, the Department of Justice sentenced Kunapuli to two years of probation, a $5,000 fine, and mandatory deletion of the photos. The culprit was also banned from contacting the female passenger.
In order to make an example out of him, at least a flying ban on the individual is in order. It is a reminder of the need for tougher punishments for those who violate public and personal boundaries.
