Despite interviewing with four companies over the last few months, they’ve been up against candidates with years of experience for jobs that clearly require little.

Moreover, companies have been putting positions on hiring freezes due to the current political situation in the country. Employers are skeptical of hiring immigrant workers, especially if they don’t have H-1B visas, because nothing is certain what the future holds for them under Trump.
The system is stacked against immigrants, with companies preferring candidates who’ve been in the game for much longer, even when the job doesn’t require that kind of experience. For many, the dream of building a career in the US is slipping away as the opportunities dry up.
