There is a huge surge in the number of Indian students going abroad for higher studies. The US obviously stands as the top favorite for Indian students.
In view of this demand to go to the US for higher studies, there are a few fraudulent schemes to illegally help aspirants clear the language examinations to get US visas. One such group has been busted in Hyderabad now.
Going into the story, seven people were arrested by Hyderabad police today for cheating on the Duolingo English test.
These seven individuals appeared to the Duolingo exam on behalf of the aspirants who applied for the US visa and intended to get admission in foreign universities.
The suspects allegedly collect Rs 5,000 – 10,000 from each of the aspirants to appear for the Duolingo language exam. The LB Nagar Zone Special Operation Team (SOT) detained seven individuals at Venkateshwara Lodge while they were taking part in the online Duolingo language exam. 5 laptops, 4 passports, and 7 mobile phones were seized at the scene.
This exam serves as an eligibility test for universities in English-speaking countries like the US, Australia, and Ireland.
